Kayla you made me a mama. You are what gave my life meaning and I know as soon as I looked into your little blue eyes that my life now was yours and no longer mine.
This day 8 yrs ago, I woke up at 5:30 am with belly pains. I was excited but thought that it might not be time, so I jumped in the shower and the pains did not stop. So I woke daddy out of his warm slumber. I called my midwife who told me I should shower and get something to eat. Daddy ate but my belly was too nervous and I did not want anything to eat. Even thought I did try to eat some yogurt and a bagel.
Then off we went. Daddy was very calm, I was calm but in some discomfort. When we get to the hospital we ring the bell to be let into the labor and baby unit. The nurse asked us how she could help and I said " we are here to have a baby". I then hear her say maybe. I knew I was in labor as the contractions were not very painful but they were coming every 5 minutes and they were painful enough that I had to stop what I was doing and focus. We were then sent into a trigage room. There they took my blood pressure and said more than likely I would be staying because it was so high, even if I was not in labor. They had me put on one of those pretty little hospital gowns that opens in the back and lay on a cot while hooked up to a blood pressure machine, a contraction machine, and one that listed to your sweet little heartbeat. I was contracting every 3-5 minutes and upon checking for dilation the nurse saw that I was at 3!
